Base exchange - Base exchange (BX), known by the Army as a Post exchange (PX), refers to a large department store-like shop that is set up on United States military installations. Exchanges on Army and Air Force bases are operated by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), while those on Navy and Marine Corps installations are operated by the Navy Exchange Service (NEX).

Military prison - Almost every modern state-level military operates some type of military prison system. Military prisons are used variously to house prisoners of war, enemy combatants, those whose freedom is deemed a national security risk by military or civilian authorities, and members of the military found guilty of a serious crime.

Military base - A military base is a facility, settlement, reservation, or installation that shelters military equipment and personnel. A military base may also contain large concentrations of military supplies in order to support military logistics.

The Dynamics of Military Revolution bridges a major gap in the emerging literature on revolutions in military affairs.
